Last night, at the Theatre Royal, the Timaru Municipal Band, under Lieutenant W. H. Osborne, and assisted by other artists, gave another of their popular and enjoyable concerts. For so wet a night, there was a remarkably large attendance of music-lovers, who were treated to a varied and excellent programme. The following was the programme presented:— Hymn, “Jesus, Lover of My Soul”; selection, “Mikado”; song. “Harbour Night Song.” Miss B. Stevens; horn solo, “lona,” Mr Reg. Williams; song hit, “Roses in June”; violin solo, “Liebesfreud,” Mr Matheson; comet duet, “Besses o’ the Bam,” Messrs Osborne and Smith; monologue, “The Foreign Legion,” Mr Minehan; march, “Broadwere.”

A meeting of the directors of the South Canterbury Caledonian Society was held on Saturday night. Present: Messrs S. R. Bums (chairman), A. Hay, R. A. Rodgers, J. O’Leary, J. Hole, H. H. Fraser. E J. Fairbrother, and A Dunne. Mr Fraser said that the date of the annual meeting had to be settled, and he thought that it would be advisable to have it before the British football match. It would be necessary to repair the rail fence round the ground, and an estimate had been obtained from Mr Hall for this work. After conisdering the estimate, it was decided that the work be put in hand, and that it be left to Mr Hay to engage the necessary labour. It was decided that the annual meeting of the Society be held on June 1L
