THE WEATHER.

Mr F. L. Wooles. Dominion Meteorologist. Yesterday's depression crossed th® Dominion last night, but a secondary cyclone of slight intensity remains centred near Cape Egmont. Pressure remains high at the Chatham Islands, but is falling again over eastern Australia. Expect winds still northerly in the central portion of the North Island, but elsewhere southerly, and southerlies soon becoming general, strong at first north of Westport and Kaikoura, and at times reaching gale force in Cook Strait, but moderating tomorrow. Seas rough north of Greymouth and Akarca, but later decreasing gradually; moderate in southern waters. Weather fair over the southern half of the South Island; elsewhere unsettled ,with further rain, but improving from the westward to-morrow. Cold temperatures, with frosts inland in the South Island.
