ARREST OF COMMUNISTS. (United Ptim Association—By Bioclrlo Talacrap’i—Ooovrtaht.l SHANGHAI, April 27. One hundred and eleven arrests have been made to-day of Chinese distributing Communist literature. Four hundred youthful Reds paraded the Settlement streets, and divided into sections of about one hundred each. One was endeavouring to hold a meeting in a hall, when the police attempted to enter and break up the meeting, but the Chinese armed themselves with short lengths of iron bars. They were obviously specially prepared.

The police, who were outnumbered, withdrew, but blockaded the building, awaited armed reinforcements, upon which the gathering surrendered and were taken into custody.
