HOUSEHOLDERS’ MEETING. At the annual meeting of householders held in connection with the Geraldine School last evening the following committee was elected: —Messrs C. Armstrong, A. M. Fyfe. J. Grierson. D. Hatton. G. Knibb. A. South, F. Wallach, A. V. Wright, the Rev. W. J. Couling. At a subsequent meeting of the Committee. Mr A. M. Fyfe was elected chairman. Mr J. Grierson secretary, and Mr D. Hatton treasurer. CHOIRMASTER FAREWELLED. Opportunity was taken at the morning service of the Methodist Church on Sunday to present Mr B. T. Heaton, who had been choirmaster for 3 h years, and who is leaving the district, with an initialled travelling rug. In making the presentation, Mr Geo. Loach referred to the loss Geraldine was sustaining in Mr Heaton’s departure, and stated that he would be much missed in church and musical circles. GENERAL NEWS. Harvest thanksgivings were held at the Methodist Church on Sunday, and the services were conducted by the Rev. Mr Grigg, of Willoughby. Special anthems were sung, and in the morning Mr B. T. Heaton gave a solo, “How Lovely Are Thy Dwellings.” At the evening service Miss Bryafi (Temuka) acted as soloist. The church will hold a harvest sale in the Presbyterian Hall on Wednesday. It will open at 11 a.m., and luncheon will be obtainable. Glorious weather was experienced in Geraldine yesterday, but rain clouds banked up toward five o’clock last evening.

PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr E. Turner, of Geraldipe. left yesterday to spend a holiday in Christchurch. Mr B. T. Heaton, of the Union Bank of Australia, who has been transferred to relieving duty, will relieve at the Waimate branch of that Bank for a month. “ SINS OF THE FATHERS.” “Sins of the Fathers” will be shown this evening at the Municipal Theatre. In “Sins of the Fathers” Emil Jannings plays the role of Wilhelm Spengler, a German-American waiter and saloonkeeper. who becomes a fabulously wealthy bootlegger, only to have his life crash around his shoulders, bringing him in the end back to his original status. In the leading feminine role is Ruth Chatterton, the famous star of the legitimate stage, who makes her screen debut in this picture. It also features in support Barry Vouton.
