ATHLETICS.
HARRIERS COMMITTEE A combined meeting of delegates from the various Harrier Clubs was held in the Y.M.C.A. last evening. The following clubs were represented:— Y.M.C.A.. Anglican. Methodist, Baptist. Timaru and Presbyterian. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Dow. seconded by Mr Kennedy, to form a committee called the Timaru Harrier ■ Management Committee, to control harrier sport in Timaru. and that affiliation be made to the Canterbury Centre in the name of the Timaru Club as before. The question of the name evoked considerable discussion, but it was clearly indicated that in attending the Canterbury Championships, each club could run under its own banner or as a combined Timaru Harrier Club. Officers were elected as under;—President, Mr J. Norrie; vice-president. Mr C. W. Cameron; secretary, Mr E. C. J. Foote; one delegate to the Management Committee to be appointed from each club, and with officers appointed to join such Committee. Dates for events which would come under the control of this Committee were fixed as follows:—May 3. official combined opening run; July 12, Temuka-Timaru race; July 26. InterClub Championship; August 16. Canterbury Championships: August 30, combined sports meeting. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair and to the Y.M.C.A.
