FATAL TRUCK COLLISION. By Telegraph—Press association. O AMARU. April 8. A serious accident occurred this afternoon a mile south of Ngapai’a railway station, when two trucks met in a head-on collision. The driver of the smaller truck, Robert Taylor (28). married, with a young family, succumbed to his Injuries before the arrival of a doctor. Lance Turner (16), was cleaning a small rifle this evening when it fired a bullet which entered the boy’s chest a few inches above the heart. By Telegraph—Press Association. MASTERTCN. April 8. A well-known resident of Masterton, Mr Francis William Pointon, was killed outright to-night, at Wangaehu, about 6i miles from Masterton. Deceased was returning to Masterton in company with a man named Rickett when his car left the road, falling about 25 feet. Pointon, who was driving, was thrown out, striking his head on a culvert. The other occupant, although rendered unconscious, escaped with minor injuries, remaining in the car.
