PERSONAL.
The Hon. W. B. Taverner (Minister of Railways) passed through Timaru on his way to Dunedin on Saturday. Mr A. Ibbotson, general manager of the Perpetual Trustees Coy., Ltd., after spending a few days in Timaru, left for the south by Saturday’s first express. Mr J. W. Collins, who was recently appointed New 7 Zealand Trade Commissioner to Canada, will sail from Wellington for San Francisco by the Tahiti on April 22. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Leader of the Opposition, Mrs Coates, and Mr A. E. Marnder, general secretary of the New Zealand Political Reform Association, visited Timaru on Saturday. During his short stay in Timaru, Mr Coates met several supporters of the Reform Party. A cable message from London reports that Sir Charles and Lady Fergusson, on arrival, were welcomed by Lord Passfield, Mr Wilford, Lord Delawar, representing the King, and Colonel de Satge, representing Mr Ramsay Macdonald. Viscount and Lady Craigavon also arrived by the Rangitata. Psittacosis evidently does not worry Sir Charles Fergusson, since his baggage included a large casa containing green parrots.
