WILDING SHIELD MATCH. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, February 21. The challenge lawn tennis match for the Anthony Wilding Memorial Shield was commenced to-day on the Wellington Association’s courts at Miramar, between Canterbury (challengers) and Wellington (holders) in calm weather. On the day’s play Wellington led by four rubbers to two. The following are detailed results (Wellington players mentioned first):— Singles. F. G. France beat T. Rhodes-Wil-liams, 6-3, 6-2. C. G. Malfroy beat C. Angas, 3-6, 6-2, 6N. R. C. Wilson beat T. W. Patterson. 11-9, 9-2. A. E. Sandrel lost to D. F. Glanville, 2-6, 6-4, 4-6. Doubles. France and Malfroy beat Glanville and Patterson, 6-2, 7-5. Wilson and Sandrell lost to Angas and Rhodes-Williams, 4-6, 6-4, 3-6. AUSTRALIANS AT AUCKLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 21. The match between the Australian tennis team and Auckland commenced this afternoon. A shower fell early, but the weather later cleared. Results: Singles. C. Sproule (Australia) beat E. L. Bartleet (Auckland), 2-6. 6-1, 6-0, 6-4. J. T. Laurenson (Auckland) beat C. J. Donohue (Australia), 2-6, 3-6, 6-3, 7- 6-1. F. E. Kalms (Australia) beat N. G. Sturt (Auckland). 6-4. 6-4, 6-1. A. C. Stedman (Auckland) beat W. Teague (Australia), 6-3, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3,. 6-0. Doubles. Sproule and Donohue beat Bartleet and Laurenson. 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Kalms and Teague beat Stedman and Sturt, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. The match will be continued tomorrow. OTAGO v. SOUTH CANTERBURY.
