AUSTRALIA’S MILITIA
VOLUNTEER EXPERIMENT. (United Press Association- -By Electrl* Telegraph—Copyright!) (Received February 20, 11.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, February 20. Major Gerald Brand, second in command of the General Staff, stated in an address before the Millions Club, that Austratlia's new militia, which will be dressed, in more attractive uniforms than hitherto, would approximate 35,000, but it was capable of expansion, in case of agression to 180,000, of an average age of twenty. One thousand had already volunteered, averaging 23 years. He hoped the employers would enable the trainees to take the fullest advantage of the annual camp. Their attitude would be the deciding factor in the success of the volunteer force.
