PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Management Committee of the South Canterbury Patriotic War Belief Society was held on 14th February. Present—Messrs Cray, Geddes, Kennedy, Walton, Oakey and Orbell. Mr G, S. Cray was unanimously reelected president of the Society. Mr M. Thompson was re-elected vicepresident, and Mr W. H. Walton was re-elected honorary treasurer. The Geraldine Committee reported on one case with which they were dealing in their district. Temuka submitted a statement of payments made during the four months under review. For Waimate, Mr Geddes reported on the cases dealt with by his Committee. The Timaru Committee gave details of payments made by cne Timaru branch, which were sub ..itted £nd adopted. The secretary submitted a statement of finance, showing investments as £10,709, loans to soldiers £2868, cash in hand £B4, payments on account of relief £6so.—The statement was adopted. The secretary reported that he had interviewed a member of the Appeal Board, who had advised him that the Board would be pleased to receive assistance from a representative of the Society when local cases appeared before the Board. Members expressed appreciation of the fact that the Appeal Board were prepared to hear a • representative of the Society in support of appeals, and authorised the secretary to assist the soldiers appealing, by helping to submit their cases to the Board.
