The question of the proper parking of bicycles in Stafford street was referred to by Mr A. L. Gee at last night’s executive meeting of the South Canterbury Automobile Association. Mr Gee stated that frequently he had been unable to draw into the kerbside owing to the way bicycles were left. Some amusement was caused when Mr G. A. Bridges remarked: “They’ve got just as much right to park there as you have. The motor Regulations state that you can’t park outside another vehicle.” Mr Gee mentioned that it would be quite all right if bicycles were placed alongside the kerbing in a proper manner.
The president of the South Canterbury Automobile Association (Mr J. Palliser) mentioned at last night’s meeting of the executive that the patrol system adopted by the Otago Motor Club was very successful A patrolman employed by the southern club spent the morning in sign-posting, and employed the remainder of the day in attending to motorists, in the way of mending tyres and remedying slight mechanical troubles. Included in his duties was the securing of new members. An application for the position of a patrolman to the South Canterbury Association was received last night, and the question of on appointment was referred to the Finance Committee to fully discuss.
