South Auckland continued their match with the M.C.C. to-day in ideal weather conditions, before a large attendance. Going was unable to play, owing to an injured ankle', received in stopping a hot shot yesterday. Nichols and Gilligan continued batting for M.C.C., both hitting out freely, and 200 went up before 25 minutes’ play. The partnership was dissolved when Shakeshaft, fielding as substitute, caught Gilligan at midon, off Badeley. The pair had added 64 in 35 minutes. Legge joined Nichols whose tally was 61. Nichols continued to hit brightly. Legge got into double figures when he lifted Everest to the boundary. Nichols reached his century with a six, compiling this in C 8 minutes. At 303, Legge was out, brilliantly caught by Cassidy, off Hawke. Earle gave a bright display before snicking one to Patrick in the slips. He had knocked up eighteen in fashion which delighted the crowd. Allom joined Nichols. Soon after Nichols was out to a beautiful catch in the long field by Badeley, off Patrick.
