GLASGOW TRAIN SMASH.
Long List of Victims.
MANY GIRL VICTIMS.
(United Press Association--By Electric Telegraph—’Copyright.) LONDON, February 18. Twenty-five people are still in hospital as the result of the collision between two trains in a thick fog at Rutherglen, near Glasgow, yesterday. One of the trains ran into the rear of the other, and in all 79 people were injured. The majority in hospital are in a serious condition: Their legs were injured when the floors of the carriages collapsed. The victims were mostly girls going home from work. The fog delayed the arrival of the ambulances, and the frozen, slippery ground added to the difficulties of the rescuers. The list of injured included a Girl Guide, whose legs were badly hurt. She, did not whimper, though severely jolted, when carried up the frozen embankment, and the doctor attending her remarked, “You are a fine soldier!” The girl simply replied, “I am a Girl Guide.”
