THE WOOL SLUMP.
A TARANAKI PROPOSAL. By Telegraph—Proas Association. STRATFORD, February 8. The following resolution was passed by the Whangamomona branch of the Farmers’ Union, and forwarded to the Prime Minister:— “In view of the recent slump in wool prices, this branch of the Farmers’ Union urges the Government to call a conference of representatives of wool and stock auctioneers, of the Government, and of farmers, to consider the advisability of assisting farmers who desire to hold their wool clips, by making suitable advances against such wool. As the Rural Intermediate Credit Board has t;he necessary machinery to undertake such a scheme immediately, the Government should make every endeavour to equip the Board with the necessary finance and power to enable the Board to assist in the manner indicated at the earliest opportunity.”
