CUSTOMS RECEIPTS.
WELLINGTON RETURNS By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, October 31. Customs revenue collected at the port of Wellington for October was £284,869, against £220,993 for October 1928. The total for the ten months of the year, to October 31, was £2,564,367, I against £2,139,576 for t}ie corresponding period of 1928. The duty collected on motor spirit for October, 1929, was £28,961/4/4, compared with £28,143/3/- in October, 1928. For ten months the total was £321,953, compared with £225,563 from March 1 to October 31, 1928, the only months for which figures are available. Tyre tax collected for October was £3027/9/-, compared with £3484/11/4 for October, 1928. The total for ten months was £47,240, against £35,481 from March 1 to October 31, 1928. Beer and excise collections last month were £5570/4/10, compared with £5217/12/8 In October, 1928. The total for ten months was £41,901, compared with £42,595 for the corresponding period of 1928. CHRISTCHURCH FIGURES. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, October 31. Customs duties collected at Christchurch during October were ; £104,002/16/-, compared with £87,064/15/- for October, 1928. For the period January to October, 1929, £986,533 was received, against £849,790 in 1928. Beer duty for October, 1929, was £8970 (October, 1928, £8082); JanuaryOctober, 1929, £73,861 (1928 £68,333). ‘ Motor spirit tax produced £14,296 in October, 1928 (January to October £153,887). The tire duty in October, 1929, was £IOBO (October, 1928, £1389); JanuaryOctober, 1929, £13,498 (1928 £16,154). RECEIPTS AT DUNEDIN. By Teleßrapu—Press Association. DUNEDIN, October 31. Beer duty, 1929 £20,064/14/2 (1928 £25,089/13/6). Petrol tax, 1929 £5550/17/8 (1928 £4154/11/8). Tyre tax, 1929 £962/14/- (1928 £1453/14/-).
