SOCIETY OF ACCOUNTANTS.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE D j Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, August 27. At a meeting of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, Mr J. L. Griffin (Wellington), was elected president for the ensuing year. Mr W. D. Revell (Timaru), was re elected vice-president. The Council decided to grant £SO for the current year to Canterbury College and £3O for two years to the Hamilton Technical School for assistance to the accountancy classes. A lengthy discussion occurred on a Wellington remit, moved by Mr G. W. Hunt, urging the revision of the Companies Act to bring it into line with the British Act. All members supported revision, and it was suggested that a deputation should wait on the Cabinet in that connection. The matter was referred to the Executive Committee for immediate attention with power to act. It was decided that the accountants convention to be held in Wellington next year should open on February 25. A motion was carried that the executive should take steps to have introduced amendments to the regulations with respect to the audit of solicitors’ trust accounts.
