OFFICERS ELECTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. I AUCKLAND, August 24. j At the annual conference of the i North Island Motor Union. Mr A. F. Tcogood, of Wellington, withdrew his nomination for re-election as president, j and Mr H. C. Jones (Auckland) was j elected president. In returning thanks Mr Jones said that motorists were likely to be deprived of the £200,000 grant it was intended the Public Works Department should contribute to highways annually. “We are,” he added, “well organised, but we will have to take very decisive steps to have that amount replaced. If money is going to be curtailed it will be very unfortunate.” Dr. Powell, of -Wanganui, and Mr W. O'Callaghan were elected vice-presi- j dents. The Executive Committee is:— Messrs G. M. White and H. Butcher (Auckland), A. Edwards and E. A. Batt (Wellington), W. H. Booth (Wairarapa), W. G. Walker (South Taranaki), F. J. Hill (Wanganui), V. Duff (Turakina), and J. H. Edmiston (Hawke's Bay). It was decided that the next annual 1 conference be held at Wanganui. The conference decided to make i efforts to have tram cars conform to the transport regulations in respect to ; the offside rules. , The report on the Mutual Insurance ; Company showed that for the first 106 months the net premium income was j £12.357. and the net surplus after pay- ! ing all losses and preliminary expenses ; £6905.
