SPAN OF LIFE.
AIMS OF CENTENARIAN CLUB. (United Press Association -By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, August 23. Five hundred Londoners have joined the Centenarian Club, pledged by example and precept to further the cause of enabling everyone to become centenarians. The club’s researches show that about 36 men and 109 women are centenarians in England Scotland, and 42 men and 74 women in the Irish Free State. The society’s motto is “Avoid excesses.” The founders are convinced that a generous expansion of the present average span of life is possible if people would seat sparingly, use all good foods, limit their consumption of alcohol, smoke reasonably, and sleep eight hours a day. Then there would be every reason to believe that they would not only reach the century, but become able-minded and clear-think-ing centenarians.
