THE WEATHER.
Dominion Meteorologist. The pressure has risen considerably over New Zealand and the south Tasman, but a cyclone is still centred in the north Tasman, and has become intense. Expect south-east to easterly winds, freshening from Cook Strait northwards, and reaching gale force in places from Auckland northwards. Sea moderate generally at first, but with a considerable swell between Kaikoura and East Cape later; rising in and north of Cook Strait. Weather mainly fair in the South Island, but conditions again becoming unsettled about Cook Strait and northwards, with rain developing, more especially in the Auckland province. Cold temperatures, with frosts in the South Island.
