Mclntosh played Young for inclusion in the Professional Championship on Monday, Mclntosh winning by one stroke. In the first round of the 36-hole competition to-day, Stewart Corry and Heard divided £l5O. Each of the players went round in threes. Playing in a practice round at Kooyonga, Morpeth went round in 69, four strokes better than the record for the course, namely. 73, held by Tucker, in a competition game. DOMINION VETERANS’ TOURNEY. QUALIFYING ROUND. By Telegraph—Press Assoc-Atioa. ROTORUA, August 25. The Dominion Veterans’ golf tournament opened on Saturday in fine weather conditions. Thirty competitors took part in the qualifying round, with the following result:—W. Lorigan, J. MacCormick, H. Corrigan, W. Maingay, G. Scott, A. Blackburn, J. Harold. F. Wilkie, Colonel Hughes, F. Price, C. Redhead, A. Sommerville, W. Colbeck, F. Seifert, W. Pavitt qualified, and three competitors tied for 16th. place. The open tournament will comment on Tuesday.
