PLEASANT POINT.
SCHOOL CONCERT. The Pleasant Point Hall, a new and capacious building, was filled to overflowing with an appreciative audience, on the evening of 20th August, when the pupils of St. Joseph’s Convent School gave their first concert. Each of the nineteen items on the programme was rendered in a pleasing manner, which reflected the greatest credit on both Sisters and pupils. Without individualising any special act, mention may be made of the three tableaux, which for beauty and gracefulness of setting and dressing surpasses any scene yet shown at Pleasant Point. Considering that this school is still in its infancy, having been opened only last year, and that its pupils at present are only forty in all, great courage and hard work was needed to place so suitable a concert before the public. That the efforts of the Sisters were fully rewarded was shown by the appreciation and applause given generously by the crowded audience. The programme was as follows: Chorus, “We have always a Welcome for You,” Pupils; pianoforte solo, “Polish Dance,” Miss Gray; song, "Upper Ten and Lower Five,” Masters J. Brophy and B. Teahen; recitation, song and tableau, “Ave Sanctissima,” Miss B. Fleming, and pupils; song “Jolly Old Men,” Boys; nursery Rondeau, “Princes? Tiny Tot.” Pupils; pianoforte duet, “Marche Militaire,” Misses Gray and Kelberg; song and tableau, “Erin,” Pupils; wheel drill. Girls; pianoforte trio, “Qui Vive,” Misses I. Gray, B. Fleming and D. Kelberg; song, “The Dolls,” Infants; recitation, “The Little Irish Mother.” Master M. Fleming; song and tableau, "Listening Angels,” Pupils; pianoforte duet, “Sherzo Brilliant,” Misses I. Gray and D.
