LAMBETH CONFERENCE.

NEW ZEALAND PRELATES GOING. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 23. Invitations to attend the Lambeth Conference in London in July next have been accepted by the Archbishop of New Zealand (Dr. A. W. Averill), the Bishop of Christchurch (Dr. Campbell West-Watson), the Bishop of Dunedin (Dr. I. Richards), the Bishop of Nelson (Dr. W. c. Sadlier), and the Bishop of Waitako (Right Rev. C. A. Cherrington). A fund was recently opened to send the Bishop of Aoterpa (the Right Rev. F. A. Bennett) to the Conference, and the Bishop of Waiapu (Dr. W. W. Sedgewlck), to whom Bishop Bennett is suffragan, has signified his approval. Even if the necessary finance were available, however, it now seems unlikely that Bishop Bennett will make the trip, as he has stated that he will find It very difficult to spare the time away from New Zealand that such a visit would entail. A Lambeth Conference takes place one every ten years, the last being in 1920, when New Zealand was represented by the present Archbishop (then Bishop of Auckland), the former Archbishop of New Zealand (Dr. Julius, of Christchurch), and Dr. W. W. Sedgewick. Next year’s Conference will be the first under the presidency of the new Archbishop of Canterbury (Dr. Cosmo Lang). Invitations to attend the Conference have been issued to all Bishops of the Anglican Communion, and Bishops of the Episcopal Church of America.
