MINIATURE RIFLES. In the Orari Hall on Wednesday, shooting took place in the Geraldine County competition, when teams from Orari and Winchester competed. The scores for the Orari C grade No. 1 were:—T. Bates 77, A. Wright 77, A. Rysdale 78, O. Smith 72, J. Bates 76, C. Grade No. 2: H. J. Smith 77, A. Priddle 77, W. E. Cook 70, W. D. Moss 77, J. Hewson 75. PROPERTY SALES. The remaining properties on offer on behalf of Mr W. Mason’s estate have been disposed of. After a spell of fine weather, a change set in on Tuesday evening, when light rain commenced to fall and continued throughout the night. For the twelve hours ending nine o'clock on Wednesday morning, fifty-three points of rain had been registered. Further rain is being experienced in Orari at present. Rain continued throughout "Wednesday and during the afternoon and evening the downpour was continuously heavy. For the last twenty-four hours the fall amounted to 1.75 inches. The Orari river is fairly high, and both of the Waihi rivers have been in heavy flood. CHILDREN'S DANCE. For the first children's fancy dress ball to be held in Orari for many yeafs, elaborate preparations are being made. About 130 children will be taking part, and the programme will include fancy marches, a maypole dance and folk dances. The children are being trained by Misses M. Kiely ] and Shanks and Mr W. E. Cook.
