RANGITATA NEWS.
FOOTBALL MATCH. On Saturday afternoon a football match was played at Rangitata in Mr G. Cain’s paddock, between teams ! from Arundel and Rangitata, and re- | suited in a win for Rangitata by 11 to 3. For the winners tries were secured by R. Munro. M. Maguire, and J. O’Brien, and J. Dwyer converted. W. Johnston scored a try for the losers. Mr M. Metcalf controlled the game. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies of Rangitata. Mr D. Popplewell, captain of the Arundel team, thanked the ladies, and Mr P. Scott, captain of the Rangitata team, replied on their behalf. A return match will be played on August 31st. PERSONAL. Mrs Ross Brodie. Rangitata Island, who has been taking a leading part In the South Canterbury Drama League Competitions, is on a visit to Timaxu. Mr E. Orimsey, Orari, is spending a holiday wih his son. Mr F. E. Orimsey, Bennetts. Mr F. E. South has returned to Orari Bridge, after a short visit to Christchurch.
