THE RIGHT WALL PAPER
LET IT BE PLAIN. The choice of wallpapers Is a most important point in the success or otherwise of one’s rooms. For real and lasting beauty in a wallpaper you must look at the all-over flat designs as they are called. Such a design makes no attempt to imitate flowers, birds and trees. It gives the effect of a flat, evenly covered surface. It grows over the wall as a single thing; and although It is continually repeated you do not see where the repeat begins and ends. A good design of that sort is a thing of independent beauty, and is really satisfying. It will outlast all the clever realistic imitations which tempt the restless people only so long as they are novel, and are then abandoned for some newer thing. If you must have a patterned wallpaper you should refrain from hanging pictures upon It.
