BERI CUP MATCH TO-DAY. The annual contest for the Beri Cup, between the winners and runners-up in the Skinner Cup competition will be played on Fraser Park this afternoon. This year's contestants will be Star and Temuka, who have already met on two occasions this season. In the first round of the competition, Star defeated Temuka by 11 points to 6, and again scored a victory in the second match by 21 points to 19. There was very little between the teams on this occasion, Temuka, if anything, having slightly the better of the play. The ground is likely to be a bit greasy for this afternoon, but the game should be full of interest. Both teams possess good sets of backs, but the advantgage in the forwards is likely to be in Star’s favour. The Celtic Fourth Grade team to play at Anzac at 1.45 is:—S. Smith, L. Mulligan, W. Murphy, D. Lynch, M. Hogan, W. Kyle, J. Seaman, R. Roper, B. Go wens, J. Murphy, T. Gavin, G. Cox, M. Crowe, W. Richardson, N. Hall. The following forfeits have been notified for to-day:— Third Grade.—Celtic default to Old Boys Fifth Grade.—Technical College default to Temuka; Geraldine default to Star. PRIMARY SCHOOLS’ GAME. The annual match between the Canterbury and South Canterbury Primary Schools’ representatives will be played as a curtain-raiser to the Beri Cup game, play commencing at 1.30.
