The registrations of motor vehicles in New Zealand to the end of June, according to the annual report of the North Island Motor Union, were as follows: Motor Cars. North Island 83,771 South Island 48,862 Motor Trucks. North Island 19,912 South Island 9,070 Motor Cycles. North Island 20,720 South Island 14,554 North Island TOta ! S '.. .. 124,403 South Island 72,486 Grand total 196,889 The following figures show the quantity of motor spirit imported and used in New Zealand::— Gallons. Ist July to 31st December, 1928 28,305,320 Ist January to 30th June, 1929 28.394,628 Total for 12 months .. .. 56,699,946
