EMPIRE BUSINESS MEN.
Imperial Conference Mooted. PROBLEMS OF TRADE AND COMMERCE. (United Press Association— By Bloctrte Telegraph- Copyright.) LONDON, August 20. A definite move is afoot to arrange for an Imperial Conference of business men on the eve of the Imperial Conference next year. Sir Gilbert Vyle is organising a meeting of a preparatory committee which will be fully representative of British commercial interests, after which it is expected that it will be possible to take the initial steps for focussing opinion on Empire trade. The banks will be invited to cooperate in the discussions. The “Yorkshire Post” says that it is hoped that similar steps will be taken in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and South Africa, after which th# organisers will invite Dominion business men to London and will meet before the Imperial Conference to thresh out an Empire programme in trade and commerce.
