APPEALS DISMISSED.
NIGHTCAPS THEFT CHARGES. By Telegraph—Preee Aaeoeietioa. INVERCARGILL, August 21. In the Supreme Court, before Mr Justice Kennedy yesterday. John Barnfield and Benjamin Griffiths appealed against a conviction entered against them by the Magistrate at Otautau on June 17, when they w‘ere Jointly charged with theft from a store at Nightcaps. of a sack of potatoes, a sack of onions, and two and a-half cases of petrol. Barnfield was further charged w'ith being on enclosed premises by night, without lawful evcuse. The apeliants had been sentenced to two months’ imprisonment. After hearing evidence. His Honour reserved his decision till this morning, when he announced that the appeals would be dismissed, and the appellants were ordered to pay costs.
