SOCIAL NOTES.

Mr and Mrs H. G. Hodge, of, Wellington, are staying at the Balmoral. Mr and Mrs G. B. Hike, Nile Street, have returned from Lho south. Miss Dorothy Raymond, Nile Street, wuj leave on Monday for Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Wagstatf, Nelson Terrace, have returned from Christchurch. Mrs and Misses Hamilton, Oamaru, spoilt a short holiday at the Bungalow. Mr and Mrs A. J. Larmier, Elizabeth Street, are expected back from the West Coast to-day. Miss Monaglian and Miss Maddren, Christchurch, are staying at Sarah Street. Mrs W. I nomas, Tfte Rectory, North Street, is expected back from Christchurch to-day. Mrs Matier and Miss Kathleen Matier, have returned to Timaru after spending some time in Wellington. Mis.-. Dcvenish-Meares, Sarah Street, is the guest of Mrs Ross Brodie, Rangitata. Mrs Campbell Gillies, Christchurch; arrived yesterday to spend a few days at “Kelso,” Sarah Street. Mrs J. R. Sinclair, who has been staying with Mrs B. H. Low, Preston Street, has returned to Christchurch. Miss Molly Murray, “Braemar,” will leave on Monday on a short visit to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs E. G. Kerr, Sealy Street, aro expected back from the North Island to-day. Mr and Mrs Ward, Port Chalmers, who have been visiting many of the beauty spots of South Island, arrived at the Bungalow from Mt. Cook. Mr and Mrs R. O. Lindsay, Wai-iti Road, and Mrs and Miss Cartwright, Orbell Street, are spending the weekend at Hae Hao Te Moana. Mr and Mrs Standage, and Miss Standage, Orbell Street, left on Thursday for Christchurch, where Mr Standage attended the Rotary Conference. Mr Frank Milner, Rector of the Waitaki Boys’ High School, Mrs Milner and Miss Winsome Milner, are leaving next week on a trip to Europe. Mrs Fleming and Miss J. Fleming, who have been staying with Mrs Guild, “Trevenna,’ Temuka, have returned to Wellington. Miss C. Newman, Christchurch, will arrive to-day to stay with her brother, Mr J .P. Newman, “Clovelly,” Nelson Terrace. Mrs C. Parker, “Holbrcjok,” Mackenzie Country, who has been staying at Te Kainga Rest House, lias returned , home. Mrs and Miss Murray, “Braemar,” Lady Beauchamp, England, and Mr R. Beauchamp, Tekapo, spent the weekend at the Hermitage, Mt. Cook. Mr and Mrs W. Brown, Mr Frank Brown, and Mrs Davidson, Wellington, who have been touring the South Island, left yesterday for Mt. Cook. Miss Bishop was formerly on the staff of the Craighead Diocesian School, and has many friends in Timaru. During the evening a musical entertainment given by leading Timaru artists was listened to with much enjoyment by those present. The opportunity was also taken .of saying farewell to Mr A. E.
