TIMBER WORKERS STRIKE. (Uultad Presa Aaaociation —By Elactri* Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, February 26. The Timber Merchants’ Association is standing firm against the strikers, declaring that whatever happens the Lukin award must be observed, even if the employees’ secret ballot approves a continuance of the strike the employers cannot allow the strike ballot decision to overrule the award. At Melbourne a mass meeting of carpenters to-day demanded that Judge Lukin should be taken before the Bar of the Federal House to explan his attitude in depriving workers of the 44-hours’ working week. They also threatened to withdraw all carpenters from existing public works.
