ESCAPE OF GAS.

WOMEN SAVED FROM DEATH. (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, February 25. Two women were saved from death in an amazing way on Saturday night. Herbert Schofield, aged 30, of Kensington, met with a motor accident, and was taken home by three men. As they approached a flat thev were assailed by a strong smell of gas. In a bedroom they found Schofield’s sister unconscious in bed. His mother was found in a stupor. A plumber stated that 1000 feet of gas had escaped in the room. A doctor stated had the women stayed a few minutes longer in the room they would have been asphyxiated. Schofield’s condition is critical.
