The Federal Register of the Commonwealth Arbitration Court has by direction of Judge Lukin, ordered the Timbers Workers’ Union throughout Australia to hold a secret ballot to determine whether the men agree with the strike. A ballot will be taken forthwith under the section of the amended Arbitration Act passed last session of Parliament, at the same time as AA'hen the penalties included in this measure. Many suburban mill oAvners in Victoria have armed their loyal workers with revolvers in anticipation of further raids by strikers. The owners themseh’es have received permission to carry revolvers.

Mr Bruce announced that his Government would increase the subsidy to 2s a ton if either parties concerned would observe their responsibilities.
