Mrs and Miss Daile.v, Waimate, have returned from Central Otago. Miss Kathleen Wood has returned to Waimate. . Mr T. W. Lynch went north to Wellington last night. Miss Itosa Tripp, Wai-iti Road, has returned to Christchurch. Mrs Gunn, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs E. Vincent, Kingsdown. . Miss Joyce Scott, Cannington, is the guest of Mrs Hayter, Mackenzie Country. Miss Mary Vincent, Kingsdown, returned on Saturday from a visit to the North Island. Mr and Mrs James Cleland, Bidwill Street, are expected back from Christchurch to-day. Miss Nancy Gibson, who was the guest of Mrs C. Miller for the races,, has returned to Christchurch. Mrs 11. E. Button, who has been staying in Temuka, has returned- to Christchurch. Miss Ferguson, head teacher of the Lyalldale School, has resigned to take up a position at the Kakapuaka School, near Balclutha. Mr Gerald Bowen, Christchurch, arrived yesterday, to stay with Mrs W. H. Helmore, “Koromiko,” Wai-iti Road. The Rev. H. H. Mathias and Mrs Mathias, Christchurch, have left for England, where they intend to reside in the future. I Mr and Mrs Ronald Turnbull, who spent the week-end with Mrs R. T. Turnbull, have returned to North Canterbury. Mr and Mrs Victor Olliver, who have been staying with the Misses Olliver, Surrey Downs. Pleasant Point, have returned to Greymouth. Mrs S. Lawrence, Makarewa, Invercargill, is spending a holiday with Mr and Mrs Arnott, Pleasant Point, after her recent illness in Lewisham Hospital. Christchurch. Miss Betty Murray, will return from Christchurch to-day. Miss Molly Washbourn, Grant’s Road, will be her guest for a few days at “Braemar,” Mackenzie Country.. Mr and Mrs Hunter-Weston, “Highthorne,” will leave to-morrow 'for Auckland, en route for Victoria, B.C. Miss Hunter-Weston, who is at present in Blenheim, will join them in Auckland.

A competitor in the South Canterbury ladies’ golf championship, to commence on Wednesday next, will be the well-known, golfer, Miss 0. Kay, Dunedin. Miss Kay is the present holder of the Canterbury and the Otago championships. The Aorangi Croquet Cub closed for the season on Saturday. In the early afternoon various competitions were held, when members and their friends took part. After a social hour in the pavilion the prizes for the day were, distributed by the president (Mrs Methven) as follows —Golf croquet, Mrs Clark; target. Mrs Samson; one ball break, Mrs Calder; peg target, Mrs Gabites and Miss Ogilvie. Prizes for the season were as follows: — Doubles tournament, Mrs W. Taylor and Mrs Clements (trophies, Mrs Bust and Mrs Carlton); Mrs Hastie and Mrs Leslie (prizes, Mrs Methven). For most points with a junior player (prizes given by Mrs Blue), Miss Morgan and Miss Bradley; for most games played with a junior (prizes given by Mrs W. Taylor), Mrs Methven and Miss Blackmore. In Yankee tournament (for trophies given by Mrs Leslie), Mrs Blue 1, Mrs Adkins 2, runner-up, Miss Morgan (prize given by Mrs Calder). B. grade, Mrs Adkins (trophy given by Mrs Porter).
