CONFEREAX-E Oh BRANCHES. A conference of branch representatives was held m the Borough Council Chambers last week. Present. Mrs W A. In welcoming members of other brandies the president mentioned that the interim conference was to be held oil Ociiber 10th., at Dunedin, and she booed that all the branches m South CaiUerburv would bo represented. There were to ho no special remits brought forward, but there would bo time given at the conference lor discussion of a'l matters of importance. Mrs Hurst (Waimate), suggested that it would be advisable il Southburn and Springbrook could be included iu the Tnnaru district, so as to relieve ilie Waimate nurse. Mis E. Raymond then moved tho following motion, which was seconded by Mrs Hurst (Waimate) “That this brand) conference earnestly requests tlicit all presidents of brandies be furnished with reports ol all Central Council meetings.” Carried. Mrs Paterson’s motion passed at an Executive meeting, was then plaeed before the conference ‘That the boundaries of districts should be defined in aeeerdanee with the trend of movemem, for shopping purposes, as well as to geographical position.” ’lbis was seconded by Mrs Denham (Pleasant Point), and carried. “When a branch brings up a subject for discussion at a conterenee, and a special committee is set u pto deal with that subject, that the delegate representing the branch shou’d be represented on the special sub-committee.” This was .seconded by Mrs Rich (Cave), and carried. Mrs Hurst mentioned that Nurse MaLhioson would be shortly paying a visit to Waimate to address mothers, and perhaps Miss Pattrick might be able to arrange for the nurse to also visit other branches and sub-brauchcs in South Canterbury. The conference then closed and the ordinary monthly meeting of tho Timaru branch was then Held. Accounts amounting to £52 13s 3d were passed for payment. Tile nurse's report showed an increase of 24 new eases for the month. f>22 visits were paid to the office, 497 homes were visited : Emulsion sold, 67 lbs. The car travol'ed 528 miles during the month. Nurse Dunlop returned from her holidey on the JOtli., Nurse Wall finishing her duties on that date. The health of the babies was satisfactory in the districts. The- -president reported that it was found advisable not- to burry the publishing of the cookery book in time for Rose Day.' The recipes were coming in well. Final arrangements for Rose Day, (November 18th.), wouVl be completed at next meeting,. The Government were giving the C for £ subsidy on tlio X'3009 collected by the Plunket Society in tho Dominion for a Lady King Scholarship at the Otago University’.
