The friends of Mr L. A. Taylor, Washdyke, will regret to hear that he is in a. private hospital in Dunedin, having to undergo an operation. At yesterday’s meeting of the South Canterbury Acclimatisation Society, a vote of condolence was passed -with Mr O. Howell, a member of the Society, on the death of his mother. Dr P. S. Foster and Professor Shelley Christchurch, who were in Timaru yesterday, returned home by yesterday’s express for the north. A Press Association message from Wellington states that Sir William HallJones has been reappointed to the Legislative Council. John Cameron has been appointed Commissioner of the High Court of -the Cook Islands.—Press Association message.
