' Splendid weather conditions were experienced, and a crowd of over 3000 was present. It was the opinion of visiting drivers that the beach was by far the best and safest in New Zealand. Speeds of over SX) miles an hour were attained by beth cars and cycles. Results :

Johnston won at 81 miles an hour, and exceeded 01 miles at otlmr stages of tlio race. Time, 2-lmin 20scc.
