TESCHEMAKER CUP. WON BY HARPER. The annual steeplechase for the Teschemaker Challenge Cup, run under the auspices of the Tiiharu High School Old Boys’ Association, was held on Saturday afternoon, from the High School grounds. Owing to the fact that the field was not a very large one, there was not the same interest displayed in the race as usual. The race was run over the usual course, which was through Mr King’s property in the quarry, over a distance of approximately tlireo miles. The result was as follows: A. Harper (scr), ISmin 2-ssec ... 1 1). Wi! soil (Imin 4osec), IS min 35sec - G. Adkin (3nun 45sec), IDmiii. ... 3 Harper, who ran a good race, being an easy winner, also secured fastest time. A FAST MILE. Lloyd Hahn, the American mile champion, scored a sensational victory over Edvin Wide the Swedish schoolmaster, in a one-mile race on March 18th. Hahn won by four yards in a driving finish, failing by one-fifth of a second to equal the world’s roenrd of 4.10 2-5. Wide’s time was 4.12 2-5. It was the fastest and most sensational mile race since Paavo Nurmi and Joie Ray, in 1925, put their names on the books as holders of the indoor mark of 4.12. It was agaisst Hahn that Rose, our own crack, put up 4.13 2-5.
