In regard to the report telegraphed yesterday, of case in which Daniel OaiTno was granted his discharge irom bankruptcy, it was stated that the applicant-had purged his offence—-a breach of the .Bankruptcy Act - by going to prison. It is now pointed out that Carline was not committed to prison, and the statement was made in error. ' A Wellington Press Association message says that having understated his income bv £9711 «aice 1917, thereby evading the payment of income tax to the extent of £916, Herbert Hepworth, chemist, Palmerston North, was fined a. total of £SOO bv.
