(From our own Correspondent.) TOWN AND DISTRICT ASSOCIATION. The monthly meeting of the Geraldine Town and District Association was held in Air Kennedy's rooms. Tlie president (Air J. C. AlcLeod) occupied the chair. Air AlcLeod said lie was very glad to see such a big meeting. lie was especially glad to see so many ladies present. .Probably they were more interested in beautifying matters, but lie hoped that they would always have such gocxl attendances. The Geraldine Hockey Club wrote offering assistance in any way possible, should the association endeavour to raise money for their funds.—Received with thanks. New members were elected as follows: —Air E. 11. Flatman, Airs G. A. At. Macdonald, Airs Rodman, Airs G. AV. Curtis, and Messrs E. J. Twigg, 11. A. Dixon, G. Gale, It. Al. Burden, It. Smith, .1;. Brenton. The president commented on the, good results of the canvass for new members. They had 78 members at present, and he hoped in a lew months that this would increase to 150. The president stated that the householders’ meeting this year was being held in the Parish Hall, with the idea of getting a larger attendance than usual. Election of committees. Traffic Committee.—The president stated that last year this had been called the Railway Committee, but this year it was meant to embrace more, ‘including the highways and traffic generally. The following were elected Alessrs J. AlcDonaldj J. Kennedy and C. AV. ;AlcKenzie.

Beautifying Committee. —Miss D. Earnie, Mrs’P. AV. Hislop, Mrs R. Rodman, Air F. H. Fish ami Captain C. J. Kerr with power to add to their number. Advertising Committee. —Messrs C. W. McKenzie, R. R. Macdonald, J. R. Lack, M. Williams and R. Morrison. Retailers’ Committee. —Retailers of the town, who are members of the association. GENERAL. Dr. Hislop said he would like the Traffic Committee to take action in regard to the road leading to the Bank of New South Wales .Wilson Street). Motorists often turned down, this road, and went into the river.— Referred to committee. Mr G. A. M. Macdonald suggested that when lectures worn given, a small hall be taken, and a. charge made. Miss Fomin doubted it they would get a big audience. A shilling charge would keep a lot away, Mr Macdonald moved, to test the matter, that a small hall be taken for the night Mr T. D Burnett, ALP., gives a promised lecture, and that a charge of one shilling be made for admission of non-members. The motion was seconded by Dr Hislop, and was declared carried. SCHOOL CO M MITTEE. The following twelve nominations have been received for candidates for nine places on the new School Committee: —H. Cow so. Dr G. \V. Curtis, A. M. Fyfe, D. L. Hatton, J. D. AleKechnio, G. H Patrick, F. Wallaeh, M. G. Williams (members of the old committee), the Rev, If. M. Cocks, Rev. J. D. Aladill. M. J. McFadgen and W. S. Shearer. GOLF CLUB Saturday last was an open day on the Geraldine links, and there was a largo attendance. Some good scores were recorded. Afternoon tea was dispensed by Mrs Morris Williams.
