It is reported that the Bank of England has accepted the offer of M. Noreau, Governor of the Bank of Franco, for t]ie \ prompt payment of £33,000,000. the balance of an advance of £55,000,000, and the restoration by the Bank of England of £18,000,000 of gold deposited as security, therefor. It is presumed that the .Bank of France is anxious to repay the debt earlier than arranged and recover the gold <n order to strengthen its financial position preparatory to stabilisation in that country.
