MUSTERER’S ORDEAL.
BROKEN LEG ON AIT. POTTS. Leslie Timpson, (32), a mlistener at Alount Potts Station, north of the Rangitata River, slipped on the snow, tailing over a cliff, a fracture of the leg resulting. He lay for 16 hours near the snow line, before being discovered. He was admitted to the hospital, and is progressing favourably.
Later particulars of the accident, show- that Timpson fell sixty feet as a result of a shingle slide. Owing to the rough nature of the country, a rescue party, composed of other musterers, who were working the station with Timpson, and who found him after midnight, had a difficult task in bringing him many miles in to the station near the head of the Rangitata River. It was twenty-one hours before they were clear of the mountains, and members 1 were exhausted on reaching the station. The patient did not reach hospital until nearly forty hours after the accident, but lie was given first aid at the station bv Hr Fisher.
Four clogs who were with Timpson kept him warm during Iris weary and painful wait, and perhaps saved him from death from exposure.
