ALPINE FATALITY.
BLIZZARD IN COPELAND PASS. LADY DIES OF EXHAUSTION. A party of tourists from the West Coast, including Mr and Mrs John Condon, were proceeding over the Copeland Pass on Friday, when they encountered a severe blizzard. It appears that Mrs Condon became exhausted and was left under' the shelter of sortie rocks while the guide proceeded to the nearest hut for food, blankets, and restoratives. When the guide returned, it was found that Mrs Condon had expired. Communication was made with tho Mount Cook Hermitage, and guides were sent out to bring in the body, which was brought into Timaru on Sunday, and sent back to the West Coast yesterday. The constable at' Fairlie reported tho matter to Mr C. R. Orr-Walker, District Coroner, who after considering the circumstances, decided that an inquest was not necessary.
