FOOTBALL.
DIOMEDE’S VISIT. In response to a request from the Sports secretary of H.M.S. Diomede, the Old Boys’ Club will field a strong team against the •warship’s beßt at the Caledonian Grounds to-day at 2.30 p.m. It is anticipated that the game, like most opening games, will be fast. A small admission charge is being made, and the proceeds will go to the spc.rts fund of each club. The following will represent Timaru Old Boys:—Strang, Lawson (3), Fleming, McLean, Bovs, Moffatt, Dodd, Stewart, Halstead, Aitken, Ledingham, Bassett, King. Reserve —Miller.
The Diomede’s team is -.—Boston, O’Gradv, Stapleton, Darby, Kirkland, Fitzgerald, Fotlmrgill (capt.), Chadwick, Milnes, Preston, Murray, Burch, Hiliind, Marshall, Anthony.
SOCCER GAME
An Association match will be played between Diomede and a combined team at Russell Square at 2.30. The naval team is:—Shearnes, Prior, Hewitt, Summerson, Meynell (capt.), Lamb, Bennett, Walker, Bird, Rivers, Cheshire.
The combined team is as under:— Goal, J. Bellenger; backs, J. McDonald, W. Weston; half-backs. J. Duncan, A. Mc-Lellan, McAuliffe; forwards, A. Robertson, A. Allingham, C. Logie (capt.), T. Allingham, R. O’Keefe. Reserves —L. Wynne, S. Taylor, W. B. Woodward. (Team to assemble at Russell Square at 2.45.)
