(Received March 18, 7 p.m.) LONDON, March 18
The “Daily Telegraph’s” diplomatic correspondent understands that Sir Austen Chamberlain, at the close of the recent session of the League Council, suggested that future meetings be limited to three instead of four or five yearly. He intimated that he would formally request Sir Eric Drummond (Secre-tary-General to the League), to report upon the desirability of a curtailment.
It is pointed out that an extraordinary session could he called in an emei'gency.
REPORT OF AMERICA’S OBSERVER. CONTROL OF ARMAMENTS. By Cabla—Press Association —Copyright, Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received March 17, 5.5 p.m.) GENEVA, Mai-ch 17.
The report on America’s observations by the League Mixed Commission, dealing with the economic aspects of disarmaments on which America is not represented, shows that America is entirely opposed to the international control of any future Disarmament Convention, also any permanent control of organisation.
The report urges the impossibility of - considering as an international crime, the common right of air manoeuvres, and considei's it incumbent upon the PoAvers to establish a scale of disarmament in relation to population. Disarmament should be arranged by regional agreement. It is impossible to formulate, in advance, economic regulations because disarmament depends on political circumstances, and respective Governments desire to conclude disarmament conventions.
