Major J. G. Prior (Melbourne.) is at present in Timaru. Mr George Murray (Braemar) wds in Timaru yesterday. The Hon. F. J. Rolleston, Attorney General, left Timaru yesterday on his return to Wellington. A Melbourne message says that Mr Bruce announced that Mr Oliver McPherson lias been appointed Australian Commissioner on the Narau and Ocean Island phosphates Commission. Yesterday the Mayor (Mr G. J. Wallace) received advice that His Excellency the GoA r ernor-General (Sir Charles Fergusson) will arrive in Timaru by the 4.18 train on Tuesday), March 29. His Excellency will spend the night at the Hydro, and Avill leave for Ashburton at 1.56 the folloAVing day. In deference to His Excellency’s wishes, there will be no public functions, tlie visit being a private one.
