Mu- and Mrs AV. Thomas, North Street, who have been on an extended trip abroad, are expected back in Timaru on Tuesday. Mr and. Mrs M.'F. Barnett (Christchurch), Mr and Mrs E. Brinkman (Auckland), and Mr Arthur Barnett (Dunedin), are staying at the Grosvenor. Mr and Mrs 11. T. Barber, Vancouver, 8.C., are spending the summer touring New Zealand and Australia. At present they are the guests of Mrs E. Mugford, 82 Simeon Street, Spreydon.

F Todhunter, Naseby Street, Merivale Sir Charles, who is a Fellow of the Royal Historical and Statistical So cieties, joined the Indian Civil Service in, 1837, and amongst other important positions, has held the chairmanship of the .Indian Taxation Committee.
