ELECTRIC CONTROL.
FUTURE FEATURE OF ENGINES OF WARFARE, By Cable—Press Ansociation —Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, October 11. The Gazette states that tlio Atlantic Fleet manoeuvres foreshadow the daj when gun turrets will operate automatically, eliminating Every fighting arm of battleships will be directed by electric controls from aloft. Already the turret lias been thus operated. A controlled torpedo, which would chase a moving target, is not impossible. Remarkable experiments have been made with wireless control of aeroplanes without pilots. A pilot boarded a piano at Portsmouth, and was told to do nothing except when ordered by wireless, or to operate normally if tho wireless control failed. Ho did not touch the control until he was ordered to descend, when ho was amazed to find himself in Fifeshire.
