WORLD ECONOMIC CONFERENCE.
FRENCHMAN’S BOLD PROPOSAL,
AIISTRUST IN DOMINION CIRCLES
By Catle —Press Association —CopyrlfM Australian and N.Z. Cable g.BßOcietlOE, (Received Oct. 8, 9.50 p.m.) LONDON. October 8. “The Daily Telegraph’s” diplomatic correspondent says that M. Loueheur’s project for a world economic conference by the League, was recently vigorously criticised in the Commonwealth Parliament, as an Insidious attempt at interference With individual States' fiscal freedom. M. Loucheur’s latest utterance on the subject lias intensified In Dominion circles this mistrust, and something will he heard on the subject at the Imperial Conference. Viscount Cecil’s warning on the subject at the League Assembly w r as singularly opportune. M. Loucheur’s conception is nothing but inter-State Socialism, and an endeavour to entrust an international body, under the League with control or output and apportionment of the natural resources of various States. This explains why M. Louclieur’s plan was popular with the Continental Socialists.
