Windbag has been scratched for the Randwick Plate, owing to slight soreness in his near fore fetlock, which developed after the Craven Plate. The Victoria Amateur Turf Club’s spring meeting will open at Caulfield to-day. The principal events are the Caulfield Guineas, Caulfield Stakes, and Debutante Stakes.

The first race at Oamaru to-day is timed to begin at 12.15. In reply to an Australian inquiry, Mr W. H. Gaisford asked 10,000 guineas for Commendation. Mr Gaisford does not desire to sell, and at the figure named there is not much likelihood of the horse changing hands. A Melbourne cable announces that Mr D. Grant has purchased Spearfelt right out. Previously the Spring Stakes winner was owned in partnership by Mr Grant and the trainer, V. O’Neill. The A.J.C. meeting will be concluded at Randwick this afternoon. The principal event will be the Randwick Plate, of £2500, 2 miles. Among the nominations were Rapine, Star Stranger and Count Cavour. Among the entries for the Clibborn Stakes, £ISOO, for three-year-olds, were Limerick, Young Lochinvar, Reonui, Subdivision, Amusement and Royal Tea.
